Warren School Board chooses new officers

The Warren School Board drew for term limits for each zone and new officers were chosen at their monthly meeting last Monday.

The term limits for Zone 1 were five years, Zone 2 for four years, Zone 3 for five years, Zone 4 for two years, Zone 5 for three years, Zone six for one year, and Zone 7 for four years.

Jerry Daniels was chosen as school board president, Dr. Kerry Pennington was chosen as vice president, and Joey Cathy was chosen as secretary.

The school board approved a contact with Williams Scotsman, Inc. at the cost of $357,324.70. The school board also approved a contract with Arkansas Portable Toilets for $47,400.

Superintendent Bryan Cornish reported most of the furniture and kitchen equipment had arrived. He said they hope to be serving food out of the cafeteria after Christmas break.

Clark Contractors began the remodeling process in the classrooms at the high school. The classrooms suffered severe smoke damage.

The arena and the new elementary school are still making progress. Superintendent Cornish said they still plan to have basketball games in the arena.

He also said he and Coach Bo Hembree are going to bid to host the regional tournament at the new arena in February.

The next school board meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, January 9 at the Warren School Administration Building.
