Warren business owner arrested for property theft

According to the Warren Police Department, local business owner Daniel R. (Danny) Cook was arrested on two counts of theft of property. Cook is the owner and operator of Cook’s Heating and Air in Warren and is the former publisher of The Eagle Democrat.

Tuesday, August 2, the Warren Police Department requested a hearing in front of Judge Crews Puryear for probable cause of alleged felony theft of property by Cook. Judge Puryear found probable cause and issued an arrest warrant.

On Wednesday, August 3, another probably cause hearing was held before Judge Robert Gibson for another alleged theft of property. Judge Gibson also issued an arrest warrant based on probable cause.

Cook was arrested Wednesday morning at approximately 10:45 a.m. for both warrants. Cook is accused of stealing two air conditioning units from local businesses in Warren. Cook’s first appearance hearing was set before Judge Gibson. Cook’s commercial bond was $7,500.

According to investigators, Cook has bonded out of jail.

Cook’s attorney, Robert Bridewell of Lake Village told the Eagle on Tuesday that he was still gathering information and at some point in the future he would be able to comment on the case.

No formal charges have been filed at this time.

According to the WPD, the case is still under investigation and the Bradley County Circuit Clerk’s office and the WPD stated they were unable to release any further records.
