Shirley Rice Simmons, 84, of Warren passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023. She was born January 14, 1939 in Bradley County to George and Beadie Cathey Rice. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe Simmons, and siblings, Donny Ray Rice, Erma Denton, and Cornelia Williams.
She is survived by her son, Joe Gary Simmons (Rhonda) of Warren; daughters, Carolyn Byrd (Robert) of Warren, and Teresa Taylor (Tim) of Rye; grandchildren, Krystle Hays, Wendy Forrest, and Tasha Green; step-grandchildren, Toby Byrd and Dustin Byrd; and six great-grandchildren.
Officiating the service, Bro. Rocky Goodwin and Bro. Richard Barley. Vocalist: Tim Taylor. Pallbearers: Joe Gary Simmons, Brandon Hays, Tyler Hays, Josh Hays, Randy Rice, and Danny Joe Young. Honorary Pallbearers: Robert Byrd, Tim Taylor, Jerry Denton, Terry Williams, Timothy Forrest, and Bryson In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Williams Cemetery.
