The Bradley County Quorum Court heard from architects Blakeley Dunn and Matthew Roberts, of CADM Architecture in El Dorado on Tuesday, February 21 about a $2.1 million emergency services building. The county received funding through the American Rescue Plan. The building would be built on the land that was donated to the county by First Assembly of God in Warren on U.S. Highway 63. The building can also be used as a multi-purpose facility.

It is important to note this was a preliminary presentation and was not representative of the final product.

The planned facility would have 6,200 square feet of conditioned space and 1,800 square feet of unconditioned space. The facility would have an emergency operations area of 50 feet by 80 feet. There would also be a kitchen and break room, supplies storage room, conference room, and restrooms with a shower. The parking lot would hold 80 parking spots.

Bradley County Judge Klay McKinney and the quorum court members discussed the issues with the jail. The judge commented the county will have to have a serious discussion about the jail situation. It costs the county about $30,000 a month to keep up with jails.

Judge McKinney reported there were three wooden bridges left in the county. The bridges would be replaced with concrete ones by Southern States Construction, who won the bid for $49,500.

The judge also reported the recent ice storm caused $250,000 in damages throughout the county. He said most of the work was moving limbs and trees out of the roads.

The county received a grant to construct a shed for the solid waste department to put their equipment in. The grant cost $17,000. The total cost of the building construction is $36,000.

Bradley County Medical Center CEO Leslie Huitt presented her monthly report to the quorum court.

The next quorum court meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Monday, 20 at the courthouse courtroom.
