Ouachita Hardwood Flooring receives SHARP Certification

Ouachita Hardwood Flooring held its annual employee Christmas party Friday, December 8, where employees enjoyed food, fellowship, and giveaways. During the holiday gathering, Ouachita Hardwood Flooring was presented with its SHARP certification by Ricky Geiggar, a consultant from GSC Safety Training and Consulting.

When a company receives its SHARP certification, which stands for Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program, the company has exhibited exemplary health and safety practices. Of the 30 companies in the United States that are SHARP certified, only five are woodworking companies and only two are in Arkansas. Ouachita Hardwood Flooring has gone four years without any safety incidents.

“We started on the journey to receive SHARP certification two years ago and we could have never received SHARP certification without Ricky,” production manager Josh Smith stated.

Ouachita Hardwood Flooring has also been recognized as a model for worksite safety and health.

“I am so proud of our company and everyone who works here. This is an amazing and deserving achievement. As a team, we have changed the overall culture here. The well-being and safety of our employees and their families mean a lot to us. They are the backbone of this company. We are excited about the things we will accomplish in the future. Special thanks to Ricky Geiggar with GSC, and Arkansas Department of Labor consultants for all the help and guidance,” Shay Dugal, owner and general manager, said in a statement to his employees.
