Lumberjacks continue winning streak against McGehee, 55-14

The Warren Lumberjacks continued their undefeated streak with a win against the McGehee Owls, 55-14.

“I thought we played really well,” said Head Coach Bo Hembree. “I thought outside of two plays defensively, we really shut their offense down, which is hard to do when they play that type of offense. Offensively, I thought we had some stuff that hit early that was really good. We kinda sputtered in the middle, which we got to quit doing. We got some penalties that backed us up and we just got to fix that. But overall, when you score 55 points you feel pretty good about it.”

The Lumberjacks began the game kicking off. The Owls had their first and ten at their 20-yard line.

At 10:43, there was a fumble on the play that was recovered by the Owls. The Lumberjacks’ defense soon forced the Owls to punt at their 20-yard line.

The Lumberjacks’ offense was at the 27-yard line with 9:45 left. Quarterback Jackson Denton connected with Kam Davis who ran down the line to the end zone, scoring the first touchdown of the night. The kick by Allen Juarez was good, giving the Lumberjacks the lead 7-0.

The Lumberjacks defense remained strong at 8:21 when they forced the Owls to punt at their 18-yard line. The ball was caught by the Lumberjacks at the 45-yard line.

With 7:35 left in the first quarter, the Lumberjacks were at the 27-yard line. Antonio Jordan caught the pass and ran 20-yards to the end zone for another touchdown. The kick by Juarez was good, giving the Lumberjacks 14-0.

The Owls struggled against the Lumberjacks’ defense and punted at their 19-yard line, where it was caught at the 49-yard line.

With five minutes left of the first quarter, Denton passed to Neon’dre Thomas who ran to the six-yard line. He paused to try and get around the Owl player but was tackled. At the next play, Kam Davis scored another touchdown with a six-yard run to the end zone. The kick by Juarez was no good, but the Lumberjacks continued to lead, 20-0, going into the second quarter.

At the beginning of the second quarter, the Owls were at the Lumberjacks’ 12-yard line. They attempted a field goal, but it was no good.

The Lumberjacks offense struggled a little bit being forced to punt at their 20-yard line at 11:41.

The Owls scored a 65-yard run to the end zone, scoring their first touchdown at 9:31. They completed a successful two-point conversion, giving them eight points.

Denton completed a 40-yard pass to Kam Davis at the end zone for a touchdown at 7:40. The Lumberjacks made successful two-point conversion, making the score 28-8.

At 5:01, Denton made a fumble that was recovered by the Lumberjacks. A flag was thrown on the play, but the penalty was declined.

The Lumberjacks punted soon after at the 47-yard line.

The Lumberjacks’ offense fumbled on a play at the 35-yard line and it was recovered by the Owls.

The Lumberjacks stayed in the lead in the third quarter.

The Lumberjacks started at the 39-yard line. The pass was completed to Tramond Miller who ran to the 30-yard line for a 40-yard play.

At 10:24, Denton passed to Thomas for a 24-yard play to the 11-yard line.

Miller ran 11-yards at the next play to the end zone, scoring another touchdown. The kick by Juarez was good, giving the Lumberjacks 35-8.

At 10:04, the Owls’ wide receiver ran the ball to the 47-yard line and collided into another Owl player.

The Owls’ offense made their way down to the eight-yard line. A complete pass to their wide receiver scored them a touchdown. They attempted a two-point conversion, but was blocked by Ervin Rivera and Cody Weatherspoon. The Owls had 14.

The Lumberjacks’ offense was then at the 50-yard line where Denton made a 34-yard pass to Jordan at the 16-yard line.

The Lumberjacks made their way to the one-yard line with 6:40 left in the third quarter. Rivera was able to break through the Owls’ defense for a touchdown. Juarez’s kick was good. The Lumberjacks had 42 points.

The Owls’ offense fumbled the ball at 5:33 and it was recovered by Terence Roberson for the Lumberjacks.

At about three minutes left, the Owls punted at the 34-yard line. The Lumberjacks had their first and ten at the 47-yard line.

With less than two minutes left in the third quarter, Denton threw a 15-yard pass to Thomas at the end zone for a touchdown. The kick was no good, but the Lumberjacks led 48-14.

Sportsmanship rule went into effect during the fourth quarter.

The Lumberjacks started on offense at the 39-yard line. Cam Burks ran the ball to the 21-yard line.

On the next play, Rivera ran to the 13-yard line on the carry.

At 9:56, Jordan caught Denton’s 15-yard pass at the end zone for the final touchdown of the night. The kick was good by Juarez.

The final score was 55-14 with the Lumberjacks as the victor.

Jordyn Ingram had 12 carries and 58 yards. Rivera had seven carries and 35 yards. He also scored one touchdown. Kam Davis had one carry and six yards. He also had one touchdown.

Denton had 288 passing yards and five touchdowns. Cam Burks had 18 passing yards and one touchdown.

Thomas had six receptions and 79 yards. He had one touchdown. Jordan had five catches for 77 yards and two touchdowns.

Kam Davis had five receptions and 66 yards. He also scored two touchdowns in the game. Miller had three receptions and 56 yards. He also scored one touchdown.

The Lumberjacks will travel to face the Crossett Eagles at 7 p.m. on Friday.
