Jeff Hoyle Pope (known to most as Hoyle), 95, of Royse City, passed away October 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 23, 1928, in Ingalls to Jefferson D. and Bethel (Harrod) Pope. Hoyle lived a life filled with love, generosity, and a commitment to helping others.
Hoyle was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his first wife Lexine Davies Pope in 2009, second wife Wanda Williams Colvin Pope in 2023, daughter Ina Beth Pope Barnwell, son Jeffrey Mark Pope, granddaughter April Dawn Barnwell Smith, sisters Shannon Pope Fewell and Hilda Pope Thornton.
Left to cherish Hoyle’s memory are is son Richard Wayne Pope (Denise); grandchildren: Jeffrey Barrett Pope (Christine), Christopher David Pope (Kimberly), Jordan Taylor Pope (Jana), Amy Elizabeth Barnwell Beck (Warren), Jessica Frances Pope Hatton (Michael); great grandchildren: Sydney Rene Pope, Jeff Wyatt Pope, Taylor Leigh Pope, Ella Christine Pope, Noah Isabella Pope, Frank Jacob Upchurch, and Ava Claire Upchurch; sister: Joy Pope Mann. He was most proud of his family, and his greatest joy came from spending time with them.
Hoyle graduated from high school valedictorian of his class and went on to complete an electronics trade school as well as completing many courses from SMU. He was employed by Texas Instruments where he served faithfully for 33 years before he retired. Among his tremendous accomplishments was the design of a system for recovering minute particles of gold in the manufacturing of transistors. He was also sent to El Salvador to open a manufacturing plant. Throughout his career, Hoyle was known for his thoughtful and generous spirit, always ready to lend a hand to those in need.
Hoyle was an active member of the Chisolm Baptist Church, where he found solace and strength in his faith. He enjoyed fishing and gardening, but perhaps his greatest passion was extending the life of electronics, appliances, cars and even farm equipment. His community and friends knew him as a selfless individual, always willing to go above and beyond to help. Hoyle is a true family man who would do anything for those he loved. He was patient, happy, loving, generous, and kind. He will be greatly missed. There is a picture frame in his home that reads: “When you have family, you have everything.” That was how he lived his life. His family was everything to him.
Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Chisholm Baptist Church with Pastor Thomas Stroud and Pastor Kirk Horting officiating. Visitation was held at Rest Haven Funeral Home Rowlett on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating Hoyle’s life. Burial will be 3 p.m. in Union Hill Cemetery, Ingalls on Thursday.
