Beth Martin, 42

Posted

My sister Beth Martin was my very first friend. She came into the world July 26, 1984 and I followed almost three years later. Our parents actually chose my name (Pam) based on which name Beth could pronounce as a toddler.

We must have been a sight! Two red-headed girls, often in matching outfits, hair curly from sleeping in foam rollers.

Beth's dream was to build a family through adoption. She and her husband fostered 47 children over the years and adopted seven. She drove them around in what we called her FBI surveillance van and what she called "Da Beast". She cooked for her family with a huge skillet, made Halloween costumes, and cut, dyed and permed their hair herself. The walls of her home were decorated with her children's photos.

Her profession and her passion was portrait photography. She specialized in babies and families. Her seasonal photo sessions were always an event. She photographed kids with Santa, baby chicks, lambs, and once, a cow dressed as a unicorn.

She met the love of her life, Buck Wisinger, in 2024. He loved her in health and in sickness, at the beach and in the hospital. I will never again be impressed by a man who summits Everest or finishes an Ironman race, because I have seen Buck stay up all night in the ER over and over because he would not leave my sister’s side.

Beth was brought into the world by Rita and Rodger Cameron, both of Warren. She loved her children: Ava, Cameron, Jayce, Jillian, Ty, Caleb and Lexie. She was the granddaughter of Mary and Ralph Robbins and Patty and Edward Cameron, all from Warren.

To me, she will always be my sister. The one who gave me my name.
