Gregg Reep wins Warren election, Hermitage election leads to runoff

Former Warren mayor, and soon to be mayor, Gregg Reep received the majority votes in the mayoral election for Warren. Reep received 788 total votes, Wayne “Poke Chop” White received 153 votes, and Carlos Yepes received 140 total votes. There was a total of 1,081 votes cast for Warren mayor.

In the Hermitage mayoral race, Mayor Tonya Kendrix received 34 votes, Matthew Cathey received 28 votes, and Karla Ramos had 28 votes. There were 85 votes for the Hermitage mayoral race. However, due to lack of total votes, there will be a runoff election on December 6 against Mayor Kendrix and Cathey.

For Warren City Council, Joel Tolefree received the majority votes in Ward 1, Position 2 against Jimmy Domineck. Tolefree received 206 votes and Domineck received 126 votes.

Tolefree also received the majority vote for Warren School Board Zone 2 with 134 votes against Angela Marshall with 127 votes.

The majority of residents voted “against” the 41.50 Mills Warren School Tax with 1,099 votes and 812 votes “for” the tax.

Representative Jeff Wardlaw received the majority vote in the county with 1,198 total votes. His opponent, Curley Jackson, received 654 total votes in Bradley County. Rep. Wardlaw won re-election with 63 percent, or 5,163 votes, and Jackson received 37 percent, or 3,017 votes.

“I am so humbled by the support I received from our voters in Tuesday’s election,” said Rep. Wardlaw. “I feel very blessed.  I also want to thank my family and friends for all of their help.  I certainly could not have been successful without them. I promise to work hard every day to make Southeast Arkansas a good place to call home and represent you to the best of my abilities at the State Capitol.”

Rep. Bruce Westerman received the majority votes in Bradley County with 1,806 and he also won re-election in the district with 71 percent, or 153,677 votes. His opponents were John White and Gregory Maxwell. White received 707 votes in Bradley County and 26 percent, or 56,647 votes in the district. Maxwell received 58 votes in Bradley County and only three percent, or 6,086 votes in the district.

In Bradley County, Rep. John Boozman received 1,823 votes, his opponents Kenneth Cates received 63 votes and Natalie James received 729 votes. Rep. Boozman received 66 percent of the votes in the state, or 590,068 votes. James received 31 percent of the votes, or 277,726 votes. Cates had three percent of the votes, or 28,590 total votes. Rep. Boozman also won re-election.

For governor, Republican candidate Sarah Huckabee Sanders won the gubernatorial race with 63 percent of the votes in the state, or 568,849 votes. In Bradley County, Sanders received 1,763 votes. Her Democrat opponent, Chris Jones, received 35 percent of the votes in the state, or 316,607 total votes. Jones received 845 votes in Bradley County.

Tim Griffin received 68 percent of the state votes for Attorney General, or 603,398 total votes. In Bradley County, He received 1,793 votes. His opponent, Jesse Gibson, received 32 percent of the state votes, or 278,705 total votes. In the county, he had 775 votes. Griffin won the majority vote.

Dennis Milligan won the Auditor of State election with 67 percent, or 592,849 votes in the state. In Bradley County, he received 1,799 votes. His opponent, Diamond Arnold-Johnson, received 29 percent of the votes in the state, or 255,842 votes and 729 votes in Bradley County.

Tommy Land won his re-election as Commissioner of State Lands with 69 percent of the state vote, or 609,314 total votes. He had 1,802 votes in Bradley County. Darlene Goldi Gaines, his opponent, received 31 percent of the state votes, or 275,372 votes. In Bradley County, she had 729 votes.

Leslie Rutledge won the Lieutenant Governor election with 64 percent of the total votes in Arkansas, or 575,088 votes. In Bradley County, she had 1,795 votes for her. Kelly Ross Krout, her opponent, received 32 percent of the state votes, or 286,212. She had 740 votes in Bradley County. Her other opponent, Frank Gilbert, had four percent of the state votes, or 33,021 and 74 votes in Bradley County.

John Thurston won the Secretary of State election against Anna Beth Gorman. Thurston had 67 percent of the state votes, or 597,806. In Bradley County, Thurston had 1,824 votes. Gorman had 33 percent, or 292,488, of the state votes and 764 votes in Bradley County.

Mark Lowery won the State Treasurer election against Pam Whitaker with 66 percent of the state votes, or 590,322 votes. He had 1,806 votes in Bradley County. Whitaker received 34 percent of the state votes, or 299,089 votes, and 784 votes in Bradley County.

In the State Supreme Court Associate Justice Position 2 election, Robin Wynne won with 58 percent of the votes, or 447,664 total votes. In Bradley County she had 1,697 votes. Her opponent, Chris Carnahan, had 42 percent of the votes, or 319,310 total votes and 708 votes in Bradley County.

Arkansans voted on four issues in this election. None of the issues were passed.

Issue 1, an issue about special sessions, did not pass in the state with 61 percent voting “no” and 39 percent voting “yes”. In Bradley County, 879 voters were “for” and 1,623 were “against”.

For Issue 2, an issue on reforming certain measures to voters, 59 percent voted “no” and 41 percent voted “yes”. Bradley County citizens had 1,033 votes “for” and 1,505 votes “against”.

For Issue 3, known as the “Arkansas Religious Freedom Amendment”, it was a 50/50 split, but 439,003 voted “no” and 431,525 voted “yes”. Bradley County had 1,334 votes “for” and 1,228 votes “against”.

For Issue 4, that would legalize recreational use of marijuana, 56 percent of the state voted “no” and 44 percent voted “yes”. In Bradley County, there were 939 votes “for” and 1,676 votes “against”.

There are 5,292 registered voters in Bradley County, with 2,654 casting their vote. The voter turnout in Bradley County was 50.15 percent.
