The Bradley County Chamber of Commerce is preparing for several upcoming community events, including its annual Halloween Trunk or Treat, Christmas parade activities and annual meeting.

The chamber’s board met Monday, Oct. 19, for its regularly scheduled meeting. Following approval of the September meeting minutes, Jane Harris presented the financial report, noting that several deposits had been received for membership dues.

Estephany Roman reported that the recent Pop-Up event at FayMays was successful, with six vendors participating.

The chamber’s Halloween Trunk or Treat is scheduled for Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. on Main Street. Chamber Director Nancy Arnold reported that approximately 35 participants had signed up to set up tents for the event.

“We want our participants to decorate their tents, and we will have a decorating contest with first, second and third prizes,” Arnold said.

Those interested in participating with a tent are encouraged to contact Arnold at the Chamber of Commerce office to register.

Other upcoming events discussed included the Bradley County Museum Gala, scheduled for Nov. 16 at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center.

The board also discussed plans for the annual Christmas parade, which is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5. Possible activities include a Market on Main event that evening.

The chamber’s annual meeting will be held Monday, Nov. 9, at noon. Current chamber members and board members are invited to attend. Those planning to participate are asked to RSVP to the chamber office by Saturday, Oct. 31.

For more information or to RSVP, individuals may call the chamber at 870-226-5225 or 870-818-9065.

Arnold also reported on her recent visit to a Rotary Club meeting, where she shared information about the Chamber of Commerce and the services and opportunities it provides to members.

During fundraising discussions, the board decided to begin selling Texas Roadhouse rolls for delivery by Thanksgiving. Sales of Rada Cutlery will begin immediately afterward.

In new business, Arnold shared information she gathered while attending a recent Destination Main Street convention. Among the ideas she plans to research is the installation of speakers along Main Street to provide soft background music, similar to a program in place in El Dorado.

Arnold also noted that Bradley County’s most recent county map was produced in 2017. She plans to research the cost of updating the map.

With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned. The next Bradley County Chamber of Commerce meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 9, at noon.
