Cecil V. Thompson, 90, of Farmville, died Monday, September 11, 2023 at his home.  He was born November 16, 1932 in Cleveland County, a son of the late Lester F. Thompson and Gladys Morgan Thompson. He was a retired welder from Potlatch, best known as “The Best Welder” by his coworkers. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps stationed in Korea. He was a poultry farmer, a member of Farmville Baptist Church and most importantly a Christian.

He was also preceded in death by his spouses, Betty Langford Thompson and Lorece Langley Thompson. Infant children, Cecilia, Penny and Brandt Thompson. Step-son, Raymond Culp. Brothers, Mack Thompson, Calvin Thompson, Herschell Thompson, and Jimmy Thompson. Sister, Vernell Bearden.

Surviving is his son, Tyson Thompson and significant other Joanie Ozment, Warren. Daughters, Terri Nolan and spouse Ricky, Old Union, and Tasha Allsup and spouse Tim, Mule Creek, New Mexico. Step-daughters, Tanya Chancellor and spouse Britt, Warren, and Sandy Hollingsworth and spouse Jerry, Hermitage. Brothers, Sammy Briant, Herbine, Eugene Thompson, Wills Point, Texas, Larry Thompson, San Antonio, Texas.  Sisters, Eloise Weeks, Star City, and Joann Cosper, Artesia, New Mexico. Grandchildren, Tiffany McMahan, Trena Mortimer, Mandy Cater, Lacey Hollingsworth, Leanna Huitt, Hannah Bryant, Britney Hardy, Justin Foyil, Robert Foyil, William Chancellor, Caleb Chancellor, Bradley Joe Hays, Tatton Allsup, Lydia Culp and Wesley Hollingsworth. Great-grandchildren, Bryce Hollingsworth, Ben Cater, Brekken Mortimer, Brynlee Mortimer, Grace Hardy, Hollis Hardy, Lynnleigh Huitt, Aislynn Chancellor, Olivia Hollingsworth, Henlee McMahan, Kash McMahan, Eli Bryant, Owen Bryant, Walker Hollingsworth, and Magdalene Hollingsworth.

Funeral service was 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 13 at Pleasant Valley Church. Burial was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home.
