Angela Marshall presented with award of appreciation

Former Warren School Board member Angela Marshall was presented an award of appreciation by Warren Superintendent Bryan Cornish and the Warren School Board members for her 21 years of service on the school board.

Marshall shared about her time on the school board and thanked her husband, her family, and the school board.

Warren High School Principal Tiffany Gathen was nominated for Principal of the Year through the Arkansas Association of Secondary School Principals.

The school district received a grant of $161,000 from the Arkansas Department of Education for safety systems at the new elementary school.

Two parents spoke to the Warren School Board last Monday about two different incidents concerning their children at Warren Middle School. Kylesha Lowe said she felt her child was mislabeled as a bully and did not agree with the punishment.

Sharacia Smith claimed her child was assaulted by another student at the school. She claimed nothing had been done. There was no action taken by the school board.

The following resignations were approved by the school board: Nakasha Nealon, Warren High School History instructor; Katie Davis, Warren High School English instructor; and LaShae Thomas, computer lab facilitator at SEACBEC.

The following faculty and staff retired: Donna Lowrey, Eastside Elementary instructor; Barbara Tolefree, Eastside Elementary Instructor; Billy Jones, SEACBEC instructor; Ruthie Courtney, SEACBEC instructor; and Patricia Ellis, Parent Center coordinator.

Brittany Moring was approved for unpaid leave of absence.

The school board approved the School Legal Liability and Employment Practices Liability General Liability coverage. They also approved s memorandum of understanding between the school district and Save the Children Head Start.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday, March 13 at the administration building.
