WPD catches escaped suspect

On Friday, May 27, 2022 during the early evening hours, Byron Eric Daniels, 22, was found to have escaped custody of the Warren Police Department Jail. Daniels was in custody on a warrant for “Failure to Appear in Circuit Court” and had recently had his first judicial appearance where his bond was set at $10,000 commercial.

During the course of the escape investigation, it was discovered that Daniels had been picked up by Mallory Bunch, 19, and taken to Hermitage. Bunch has since been arrested and charged with “Accessory to Escape 2nd Degree”. She is currently in jail awaiting a first appearance. Daniels has since been taken back into custody as of 7:20 p.m. He is currently facing the charge of “Escape” and will be held until his first judicial appearance.

The Warren Police Department stated the investigation is still ongoing and further charges and arrests are possible. “I want to thank each person who gave information, responded, and helped in the search including the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, Hermitage Police Department, and the Monticello Police Department,” said Sergeant Tim Nichols. “Working together is how things are done.”
