Warren School Board meets for first time in new school year

The Warren School Board met for their first regular meeting since the school year started on Monday, August 21.

The school board heard from the school administrators and presented the data from test scores.

The school board approved the following: contract between Warren School District and South Arkansas Rehabilitation; teacher and administrator recruitment and retention plan; the 2023-2024 statement of assurance; disclosure statement; consulting agreement between Warren School District and Leigh Brandon; the purchase of a portable building from Lynns of Warren for the Transportation Department for $15,289.59; board to board transfer from Cleveland County to Bradley County; board to board transfer from Bradley County to Cleveland County; and resolution regarding preferred election procedure.

Superintendent Bryan Cornish reported students returned to the Warren High School building. He also said the modules would be removed from the student parking lot.

The school board accepted the resignation from Haliey Hudson, SEACBEC computer lab facilitator and Deborah Minton, food service worker.

The following were approved to be hired: Deborah Minton, food service manager; Jane Jackson, SEACBEC computer lab facilitator; Gennie Robinson, Warren Elementary special education paraprofessional; Areletha Davis, Warren High School special education paraprofessional; Beverly Hines, Warren High School special education paraprofessional; and Shelia Gorman, ABC Preschool temporary nurse.

The next school board meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Monday, September 18 at the Warren School Administration Building.
