The Warren Branch Library celebrated the conclusion of its 2026 Summer Reading Program, “Unearth a Story,” with a closing party that brought together dozens of young readers, their families, and community supporters.

A total of 56 children attended the closing celebration, while 64 children participated in the summer reading program throughout the season, according to Librarian Julie Hamilton.

During the event, participants received books to encourage continued reading throughout the year. They also received handmade items created by the Bradley County Cooperative Extension Service.

Children were also treated to homemade chocolate goodies provided by The Chocolate Lady, a new local business in Warren. Lunch was made possible through a donation of pizza and other food from the Friends of the Warren Branch Library.

Throughout the summer, the library hosted special guests each week, giving children the opportunity to learn from a variety of community members while reinforcing the program’s theme of discovery and imagination. The weekly presentations added an interactive element to the reading program and helped make each gathering a unique experience.

Hamilton said she was pleased with the participation and support the program received from local organizations, businesses and volunteers.

“The community continues to make this program a success, and we appreciate everyone who helped make it possible,” Hamilton said. “We had a wonderful group of children this summer, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s program.”

The annual Summer Reading Program is designed to encourage children to continue reading during the summer months, helping them maintain and strengthen their literacy skills while school is out of session. Through books, activities and community partnerships, the Warren Branch Library provides opportunities for children to learn, explore and develop a lifelong love of reading.
