The Rotary Club of Warren met for its weekly meeting inside First Methodist Church Tuesday, December 19, with its last meeting of 2023 on the schedule. The group heard from Warren High School Junior Rotarians Abigail Raines and Gustavo Ramirez to begin the program. Then Rotarian Dr. Bob Smalling presented his program of fellow Rotarian Rev. Dixon Platt. Platt spoke about a trip to Israel and the landmarks there. He also talked about a wall that has been there for over 2,000 years that people would pick up large rocks or small rocks and add them to the wall to fortify it. Platt said this reminds him that everyone can play a role, no matter how big or how small, in all walks of life no matter the organization or cause. He then transitioned into a message about the upcoming Christmas holidays. He talked about the Christmas Eve Midnight Service at the Methodist Church and had a few of the candles they use for the event. Some were bent, almost broke, or all twisted around, but they still worked and could still spread the Light of Christ this holiday season. The Rotary Club of Warren will not meet for the next two weeks and will resume its normal meetings on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
