On November 10, Re-New-ing Edinburg held their monthly meeting. Martha Tolano, President, welcomed those in attendance.  The October minutes were previously emailed to members and passed out to those attending.  Motion was made by Melody Spears, and seconded by Brenda Triplett, to accept the minutes as presented.  Motion passed.

In the absence of the treasurer, Roger McClellan gave a brief update regarding the junk hunt proceeds and overall bank balance.

A discussion was held concerning the group’s recent participation in the Great South Arkansas Junk Hunt held October 22-25 and despite the cold and sometimes rainy weather, the proceeds made at the event were similar to those past.  Everyone agreed they preferred an early date for the event which didn’t conflict with the veterans dinner, nor preparation for the fall festival event.  Patricia McClellan advised the group that in 2026, the hunt would be held September 24-27.  The spring hunt will be March 26-29.

McClellan,  Tolano, Luis Tolano, Trenna Kemp and Patricia McClellan volunteered at the Cleveland County Veterans Appreciation dinner held on October 25.  Even though it rained throughout the event, there were approximately 95-100 in attendance at the event which was catered by Dorey’s Catfish Company.  Another 100 plates were purchased or picked up by veterans with ten delivered to the Cottages at Rison.

The fall festival event was held October 31 with approximately 65-70 kids receiving candy.  The New Edinburg Fire Department passed out fire safety coloring books and after the event volunteers were treated to chili provided by Kathy Waldrop.

Santa will visit the community center December 19 and December 20. In the absence of Trenna Kemp, Tolano, volunteered to prepare hot chocolate and cookies for the event should Kemp not be available.  A work day to decorate New Edinburg will be held Friday, November 14 at 11 a.m. with an additional day set for Saturday to set up the manager and joy display at the local churches.   Patricia McClellan will get with Kemp regarding an ornament to present to families at the event.

McClellan advised the group that the last four bricks for the veterans park at the community center had been purchased by Gregg Herring, therefore, he will purchase them now, but will wait until spring to install those bricks.

Motion was made by Spears, seconded by Patricia McClellan, for Roger McClellan to be the 2026 Vice President, Kemp would move up to President, with Linda Hornaday, Patricia McClellan and Kathy Waldrop remaining in their current positions.  Motion passed.

The next meeting will be held January 20, 2026 as there will be no meeting in December.
