HopePlace Warren hosted a Ministry and Mingle event in place of their annual banquet fundraiser on Tuesday, October 8. The event was held at Immanuel Baptist Church’s Family life center. The decorations were fall-themed and guests were invited to a charcuterie-style buffet of finger foods. Tables were set up where people could stand and talk while eating and guests were also encouraged to participate in a silent auction by bidding on items that had been donated by businesses and individuals. Silent auction items included things like handmade signs, gift certificates, gift baskets, candles, and much more.

Senator Ben Gilmore opened the event with prayer. Following Gilmore was Arkansas State Senator Bart Hester who spoke to the crowd about the importance of HopePlace.

“The most important thing we can do is to protect life,” Hester said.

The crowd also watched a dance performance by Sophie Joy Mendez. Mendez, who is five years old, was diagnosed with Ependynoma, a type of brain tumor, and in January of 2023 she had surgery. She spent a total of 104 days at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. While recovering, she had to relearn how to walk and talk again.

Wendy Curry, director at HopePlace Warren spoke and gave thanks to those who were in attendance and those that supported HopePlace Warren. HopePlace Warren has acquired an ultrasound machine and they have an ultrasound tech who visits to performs ultrasounds.

Warehouse B had a coffee station set up and all proceeds were donated to HopePlace.
