Hermitage School Board new members sworn in

Justice of the Peace Alton Richard swore in the following school board members before the monthly meeting: Russell Richard, Kevin Reep, Mary Hamilton, Dorothy Davis, David Wilkerson, and Gary Vines. A motion was made to appoint Reia Thomas to the Zone Four position on the Hermitage School Board. The school board approved the appointment of Thomas. Alton Richard swore Thomas in after the approval.

Thomas made her first motion to keep all school board positions the same. The other school board members approved the motion.

Hermitage Superintendent Dr. Tracy Tucker updated the school board on the American Rescue Plan Act.

A motion was made to approve the price change for engineering work on the Mizell Contract for heating and air, an ESSR project.

The school board approved a resolution for carry over balance transfer. The school board also approved the Arkansas School Board Association-created school board policies. The school board approved the Hermitage School District audit report.

The school district received bids for milk and bread. The school board members reviewed each bid. The milk bid recommended was from Hiland Dairy. The school board approved the recommendation. The school board received one bread bid from Flowers Baking. The school board approved the bid.

Two school choice notifications from the Hamburg School District for the 2021-2022 school year were shared with the board.

Dr. Tucker made a recommendation to hire Madison Vines as a teacher. The school board approved the recommendation. The school board approved the hiring of: Tim Whitney and Laynie Rogers as cross-country coaches; Kristie Bass as paraprofessional; Brenna Leggett as agri; Cody Jones as Hermitage High School Social Studies teacher; and Laura McKinney and Dana Rreep as 7-12 grade literacy teachers.

The school board accepted the resignation of Shaun Wilson.

The next school board meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 11 at the Hermitage High School cafeteria.
