Hermitage School Board discuss cell phone policy

The Hermitage School District discussed the district’s cell phone policy at their monthly meeting on Monday, May 9. After some discussion, it was decided the student handbook committee would discuss any modifications needed to the policy. The committee is made up of staff, students, parents, and community members. Suggested modifications will be brought to the school board at the next meeting in June.

The school board discussed the Digital Learning Plan, which the district currently has, but it does not intend to write for the 2022- 2023 school year.

 A motion was made to accept the recommendation to utilize Ameri-Corp volunteers Joanna Salinas and Karissa Salinas for summer learning. The school board accepted the motion.

The school board approved a motion to seek bids for the child nutrition program and other goods for the 2022- 2023 school year.

A motion was made to approve out-of-state travel for the state soccer and cheer camp. The motion was approved by the school board.

After an executive session, the school board accepted the resignation of LaReina Grundy.

The following people were approved by the school board to be hired for the migrant program. They are: Faron Johnson, Travis Stanley, Charish Curry, Erandi AcuchiAlendar, Martha Martinez for part-time, Madison McGhee, Lizzett DeLeon, Christy Rowell-Trotter, Clare Ortiz for part-time, and Selena Jurado.

Hermitage Elementary Principal Rosalynda Ellis gave her report to the school board. Hermitage Superintendent Dr. Tracy Tucker also presented her report to the school board.

The next Hermitage School Board meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 13 at Hermitage High School Cafeteria. The monthly meeting is open to the public
