The local chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, formerly known as Captain Robert Abernethy Chapter, sponsored the Perpetual Flag Program a few years ago. Flags were purchased by individuals to honor a veteran of his/her choice. Last week, the program came to completion with the presentation of a plaque to Bradley County Judge Klay McKinney. Forty-eight flags are displayed at the Bradley County Courthouse before all patriotic holidays, and now the plaque hanging in the courthouse provides the names of the honorees, in the order they were purchased, as well as those who honored the veterans.
