Bradley County Medical Center seeks nominations for DAISY Award

Bradley County Medical Center is encouraging patients, families and community members to submit nominations for its DAISY Award, a national recognition program that honors outstanding nurses.

The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses celebrates nurses who go above and beyond in providing compassionate, skillful care to their patients. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s mission to recognize the extraordinary clinical skills and heartfelt care nurses provide every day.

The DAISY Award was established in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died from complications of an autoimmune disease at the age of 33. During his hospitalization, his family was deeply moved by the compassion and dedication shown by nurses. In gratitude, they created the foundation and award to honor nurses everywhere for the difference they make in patients’ lives.

Hospital officials say the recognition gives patients and families an opportunity to express gratitude for nurses who have made a meaningful impact during their care.

Nominations can be submitted online at the hospital’s website or in person by completing a paper form. Paper nomination forms are available throughout the facility and can be placed in designated collection boxes located at the hospital, the Rural Health Clinic and the Brunson Medical Complex.

Organizers encourage anyone who has experienced exceptional care from a nurse at Bradley County Medical Center to take part in the nomination process.

“This is a wonderful way for our community to recognize the compassion and dedication of our nursing staff,” officials said.

DAISY Award recipients are selected based on nominations that highlight the nurse’s commitment to excellence, kindness and patient-centered care.
