The Bradley County Chamber of Commerce Board met Monday, March 9, for its regular monthly meeting, discussing upcoming community events and Chamber projects.
The meeting was called to order, and members approved the minutes from the February meeting. Board member Jane Harris presented the financial reports for January and February, which were also approved.
Planning for the Chamber’s annual community wide Easter egg hunt was a major topic of discussion. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 4.
Board member Julie Hamilton reported that 300 candy-filled eggs will be donated by the Bradley County Sheriff’s Department and Esco Pest Control. Community member Tiffany Pennington has also donated prizes and Easter baskets for the event. Members discussed possible ways to distribute the prizes during the hunt.
Hamilton added that Westside Church will provide hot dogs and bottled water for attendees, and the Warren High School HOSA Club will offer face painting. Union Bank and Trust will also donate Easter baskets for the event.
Chamber Director Nancy Arnold noted that additional candy is still needed to fill the remaining Easter eggs.
Members also discussed safety measures for the event, including roping off the train at Warren City Park to prevent children from climbing on it and risking injury.
Board member Estephany Roman reported that a Pop-Up Shop event held this past weekend at Warehouse B and Nanny’s Nest Boutique was successful. The next Pop-Up Shop is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Mane Event.
Roman also announced that the next Market on Main will be held Saturday, March 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Martin’s lot. The event is expected to feature two food trucks and approximately 12 vendors. In the event of rain, the market will move to the YMCA.
Board member Heather Bowen announced that Nancy’s Boutique and Florist will hold a grand opening at its new Main Street location on Saturday, March 14, beginning at 9 a.m.
Under new business, Arnold said she would like to explore decorative improvements for the Martin’s lot. She will gather ideas and cost estimates to present to the board at a future meeting.
In old business, Arnold said she is obtaining price quotes for new banners to be installed on light poles along Main Street. The city is currently purchasing new rods for the poles, and updated banners will be needed because the current ones will no longer fit.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned. The next Bradley County Chamber of Commerce meeting will be held Monday, April 13, at noon.
