Ashcraft seeks re-election to C&L Board

John Ed Ashcraft, of the Pansy community, has announced that he is seeking re-election to the District 3, Position 1 seat on the C&L Electric Cooperative Board of Directors representing Cleveland County and a portion of Dallas County.

Ballots for the board election will be sent to all C&L customers through the cooperative’s nine-county service area on June 5. The deadline to submit the ballots is June 10.

Ashcraft has served on the C&L Electric board of directors for 10 years. He is a life-long resident of Cleveland County, and is a graduate of Woodlawn High School and the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He is retired from UPS after nearly 36 years of service, having received the Circle of Honor award from UPS for 25 years of safe driving.

He is also a licensed funeral director, currently working part-time for Griffin Funeral Home at Star City.

In addition to serving on the C&L Electric board, Ashcraft is also a member of the board for Connect Bank at Star City, and has served for five terms on the board of the Saline-Ouachita Valley Livestock Association at Warren, having served as a past president.

He is also a member of the Bradley County and Lincoln County Cattlemen’s Association.

An active member of Monticello Church of Christ, he and his wife, Carolyn Ashcraft, have three daughters and six grandchildren.
