On Thursday, August 8 the Warren Lumberjacks Booster Club hosted their annual “Meet the Lumberjacks” event at Immanuel Baptist Church. Community members came out to support their favorite Lumberjack players and cheerleaders. Multiple tables filled with cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and other delicious looking items were put together in an end-to-end fashion to display all of the items that were donated for the event’s silent auction. Other items that were included in the silent auction were a “Tic Jack Toe” board and a custom cutting and cheese board set, both of which were donated by RNR Woodworking and Custom Engraving.
Before the start of the evening, Lumberjack football players lined up to autograph a lamp that had the number 31 on the Lumberjack orange lamp shade and a Lumberjack football helmet served as the lamp’s base. The lamp and a custom Lumberjack chair were sold during the event’s live auction and Mike Nichols served as the evening’s auctioneer.
Randy Rawls opened the night welcoming everyone and Shelton Morman followed with a prayer for the evening. Lumberjack junior high football coach Jacob Roberts and senior high football coach Bo Hembree stood before the crowd and introduced each member of their football teams.
The Family Life Center was filled with excited players, booster club members, and friends and family members of the players. Extra chairs had to be brought in so that seating would be available for everyone. A team from Immanuel Baptist Church prepared hamburgers with all the fixings and made sure that everyone had plenty to eat. Before the start of the live auction, the Lumberjack cheerleaders led the crowd in a cheer that had everyone excited for the start of football season. During the meal, laughter could be heard all around the building indicating that everyone was having a good time.
The silent and live auctions were both a success.
“The Lumberjack Meet And Greet was a record setting success,” said a Lumberjacks Booster Club member. “Thanks to everyone who made something or donated!!
